Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in children. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention address facts about ADHD on a website that is visible for the public eye. The website is broken down from types, symptoms, causes, statistics, and treatments. The site is open to anyone who has internet access and may have questions or concerns for yourself or others. The CDC uses the rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos to inform the public on ADHD.
According to the website statistics, The American Psychiatric Association states in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5, 2013) that 5% of children have ADHD. In September of 2014 Healthline published a report that the average age of ADHD diagnoses was seven years old, symptoms first appeared from three to six, and there has been an increase in diagnoses of 42% over the last eight years. (Holland and Riley, 2014). Reading what is on this website will not only give you a sense of hope but it will ensure you that you’re not alone.
Ethos is how much credibility does the writer have. The CDC has been around for 69 years and counting. It is run by the government and a very credible source. The CDC made a trusting name for itself over the years and the biggest way are by their mission. Their sole purpose is to protect the American people from health, safety and security threats in the U.S. or abroad. According to the CDC, “trying to diagnose a child with this disease is a multi-step process.” The website is a website that can be trusted at all times. A way to convince the audience that this is a real disease is to ask your doctor about the disease and they will explain everything. One cannot self-diagnose from reading one article but it’s always good to read up on things, so you can ask questions later.
Pathos appeals to the emotions of the person that is reading the article. The tone set within this article is very comforting and eing, it’s going to be okay. There are kids laughing, diversity, male, female, and most importantly unity. This picture theme is repeated throughout the site improving the emotional relation to the readers.
Logos is the reason or logic behind someone doing something. The writer has to convince the reader of its point so that the reader will believe what the author is saying. “ADHD is often undiagnosed and untreated in adults due to lack of disease awareness, inadequate access to ADHD care, or use of diagnostic criteria prevalent before DSM-5” (Leahy, 2018). The CDC, however, provides copious amounts of factual evidence and information so that suspecting adults can have the motivation to look into treatments. Logos is the most-used rhetoric by the CDC on the website. The CDC webpage also provides in-depth, accurate descriptions of all things mentioning or pertaining to ADHD, while including ways within the site to do further research.
In conclusion, ADHD is common and treatable. It’s not up to us to decide when a child is considered to be too much of anything but, if you do think something is going on, don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor. The site is easy to navigate so viewers can get the answers they need. The site also provides various contact numbers for people if they have additional questions. The web page was designed well using many different aspects of ethos, pathos, and logos appeals. If you do have questions or concerns about ADHD this web page could put you on the path answer them.

For the purpose of this course, distinctions between two important concepts should be considered:
Theoretical framework: the use of constructs and propositions a recognized theory (or theories) to a research problem, purpose, and question.
Examples: Social Influence theory, transformational leadership theory, game theory.
Conceptual framework: the construction of ideas, assumptions, and beliefs sourced in both the literature and one’s own experience, which identify the main concepts that guide the formulation of the research problem, purpose, and question.
Examples: Concepts from positive psychology, mindfulness meditation, language development models

As noted in the Learning Resources this week, health professionals can be leaders of social change. Consider the story of Paul Amigh, a student and teaching assistant at Walden:
My name is Paul Amigh (pronounced Ah-me’), and I am a student in the PhD Public Health program at Walden University with a concentration in Epidemiology and a Teaching Assistant for the School of Health Sciences bachelor’s degree programs. I have obtained my entire college experience from Walden University, and it has changed my life and given me the desire to change the lives of others.
I am a U.S. Army veteran who graduated from the Academy of Health Sciences, attended vocational school in Central PA for my L.P.N. license, and hold a BS in Public Health with a concentration in Health Informatics from Walden University. I have spent my life in service of my country and others working as medic, a prison nurse, travel nurse, and as a charge nurse in an advanced Alzheimer’s unit. Feeling a greater need to do more for my community and improve the lives of others, it was my bachelor’s degree from Walden University that gave me the opportunity to work in education. I began teaching medical assisting, medical billing and coding, and health informatics classes at a local technical school in
I created a local chapter of SkillsUSA and began to train students in leadership and skills competitions related to their chosen vocational career path. It was here I discovered students just need someone to believe in them. Spending a few hours each day training and working with these students to improve upon the soft skills employers are looking for in communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and fundraising the entire cost of membership and travel, I created Champions at Work. Over the last six years, I have personally trained and mentored more than 50 Pennsylvania State Gold Medalists and trained fifteen National Medalists, with five of them becoming national champions!
This October I stepped down from teaching and have been appointed as the new Public Health Program Administrator of Western Pennsylvania for the PA Department of Health’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. This special Supplemental Nutrition Program provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, healthcare referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Established as a permanent program in 1974, WIC is considered the premiere public health program for the Department of Agriculture.
My dream is to not only complete my PhD from Walden University, but to someday call Walden University my employer and continue to work with some of the most amazing professors and mentors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from, getting to know them on a personal level, and changing the lives of more people just as Walden University changed mine.

Should the sales of human organs be legally or not, it is quite difficult to find a satisfied answer
Should the sales of human organs be legally or not, it is quite difficult to find a satisfied answer to this controversial question at the moment. Although a large number of articles were written, numerous speeches were made, countless meetings were hold to discuss about this matter but until now it is still a big controversy issue all over the world. Thanks to the steadily development of scientist, technology and medicine treatment, nowadays human organ can be transplanted from one to another.
As the consequence some people think that selling organs should be legalized but others claim that it must not be done because the crime rate will rise and only the rich benefit from it. However, I believe that selling human organs is a right thing to do and should be legalized because of its important and essential to human life. First of all, organ transplant plays an important role in the medicine. The matter of fact is that there are a large number of patients who are not transplanted and it grows significantly years after years (may be 10-15%).
As Aicha commented in the website Blurtit. com,” the number of people in need of organ donations is increasing each year. According to current statistics, in China more than 2 million people require organ transplant, in UK this figure is 8000, in Latin America this figure is 50,000. ” Furthermore, David Holcberg (July 21, 2005) stated that “in the city of London, Canada record 87,000 individuals who did not share the athletes’ good fortune stand on the U. S. national waiting list for organs. Of the 82,000 waiting for kidneys or livers, about 6,000 will die in the next twelve months.
So with those statistics you can partly image the huge number of people who are waiting for organs such as kidneys or livers each year. However unlike other diseases, the cure for those patients can not be produced by artifical materials in the factory, what those people need is organ from human. Unfortunately, the number of organs donated to hospitals or medical centre is limited compares to the demand for transplantable. Why? Because there are only few people would be ready to do surgery and give organs to a person they do not know without compensation.
Furthermore, not many people choose to donate their organs after the death. In other words, selling organs is one of the most effective and quickest ways to have organs for the patients. Moreover, with some people, especially the poor selling one of their organ is an effective and easy method to have a better living condition. Due to the huge demand of the organs in the medicine care so people can sell theirs with an extremely high price. In addition, with the dramatic development of transport, the patient now has to wait for only few days or weeks for the organs come from other countries instead of months or years.
With the poor, it is quite impossible for them to work in few years to have a big amount of money to spend for the life; consequently, they are willing to sell one of his or her organ for other people to have cash to expense or for the family. Besides, after giving up an organ such as kidneys, the health of the seller is sometimes not quite seriously damaged. Below is the price for some organs according to Michelle Tsai (2007) and you can realize that the poor can get a big profit from their own organs and selling human organs should be legalized to help such human.
Last but not least, as David Holcberg wrote,” the right to buy an organ is part of your right to life”, it is the next reason I would like to mention about. Let image and put your self in a situation that you have a serious disease and your life depends on getting an organ such as kidney or liver, I ensure that you are willing to pay for one if you afford to do it. According to David Holcberg, “and if you could find a willing seller, should not you have the right to buy it from him or her”.
In some extend, it is similar to a business or a contract, a person offer to buy something and someone can accept it, certainly both side have intention to do it. Everybody has the right to live and if they are not allowed to buy cure for their sickness, their right is forbidden, isn’t it? Desires to live is the nature of human being, in any circumstances, they still try to live. However when they are waiting for an organ for a long time and this demand is not satisfied so their only hope now is buying from other person and it seems to be too ruthless to forbid them to have the right to make a “contract” to buy a kidney or liver.
As the result, if the market for human organs is legalized countless people would be saved and many individuals could have a better life. However, many people argue that it should not be done due to some ethical and social matters. The first reason for this disagreement is legalizing selling human organs only benefits for people who have enough money to pay for the organ; in other words, for middle class and rich people. It is certainly true that the price for each organ is extremely expensive.
For instance, in South Korea a liver cost approximately 300000$ and apparently not everybody can afford for such a huge sum of money. It will deepen the gap between different classes in social. Moreover, it can not be denied that there will be a big different between rich and poor people when selling human organs is legalized but as I mentioned above, human have the right to live. The rich also tried hard to earn money and it is very common if they can get better living or better chances.
Everybody always wants to get high position in the social or earn much money so they can get what are worthy to their effort. The gap between the rich and the poor has existed in numerous fields in life for thousand years so it is very hard to balance two classes. To sum up, I think this matter is not big enough to pretend government legalizing selling human organs. Another big results that legalize human organs can cause is that the growth in the number of death people. To have organs for sale, many bad people or criminal will commit murder to get other human organs and buy it for so much of money.
In a conversation in website Answers. yahoo. com many users also commented about similar problem. For example, as Jess stated, “If the sale or organs is legalized, organ theft of healthy young people will be even bigger than it already is! ” and “Murder will rise, people will die, and their organs removed from their body”. Consequently, the rate of organ stealing or murder will increase and it is really a pressing matter about ethical. Moreover, who will donate kidneys or liver while he or she can sell them for 20000-200000$?
Everything has two sides, advantages go along with disadvantages and certainly we should not forbid or prohibit one thing because of its bad side. In my opinion, the increase of crime rate or similar problems will happen for sure. Almost human never want to get hurt but they always want to be rich or have much money. Actually, the legalization of selling organs totally can not be done in the short term because most of people are aware of the huge attraction of money, a large number of people are willing to break the rule and do not care about the ethical matter.
However, government can legalize the sale of human organs on the one hand and provide policy to prevent killing people for organs on the other. Each business relate to organs needs many rules and should be strict. A serious punishment will be applied with the murder and the legal may be applied in some region or countries. After a short time, it becomes success or valid then can be applied in other countries, too. In conclusion, although legalizing human organs will lead to some bad results, I still think that this policy should be applied.
May be the rate of criminal or some negative matters relate to ethical will exist but plenty of patients will be saved. In many circumstances, the life of human should be priority and there always have the suitable ways to solve the disadvantages or cons of a problem. Government should consider carefully providing appropriate policy that can help people who are waiting for organs and can protect people partly from murder for kidneys or livers.
