Select two readings or one reading and one video clip
In a minimum of 750 words, explain why you disagree with the source/s’ point of view; feel free to use the other readings for this week or outside credible academic sources to underscore your points
Now, try to imagine the possible response/s to your arguments and objections. Explain the response and rebut your opponent in this imaginary debate. In your rebuttal, consider that you may come across many opportunities to disagree with fellow students throughout your Brandman experience. Write your rebuttal with consideration of how you would address such controversies with fellow students in a debate that is not imaginary.

Consider this scenario (in a minimum of 750 words):
In Dostoyevsky’s novel Crime and Punishment the main character plots and carries out the murder of an old woman who has a considerable amount of money in her apartment. After killing her, he steals the money. He argues that
She is a malicious old woman, petty, cantankerous and scheming, useless to herself and to society (which happens to be true), and her life causes no happiness to herself or to others; and Her money, if found after her death, would only fall into the hands of chisellers anyway, whereas he would use it for his education (no doubt at Brandman University).
Putting aside for a moment the small detail that the murder is a crime – is this action justified in some way? Yes or no and why? There is one catch; the only sources you can use to buttress your arguments one way or the other must come from this week’s readings and video clips. -

The theme or setting for each project
You are employed by Be Safe Consulting, Inc. (BSCI), as an entry level safety consultant. You report directly to Bob Sanders, the supervising Certified Safety Professional (CSP). For the last two months you have been assigned to conduct a comprehensive safety evaluation for Acme Manufacturing Co. Based on the observations, calculations, and recommendations in Unit II through Unit VIII prepare a Comprehensive Report to Bob Sanders, who will, in turn, use this information to prepare a final report to Acme Manufacturing Co. Board of Directors. While the Board of Directors may be looking for detailed business impacts, Bob Sanders is looking for a detail of potential employee hazard exposures and your recommendation rationale (calculations, observations, and/or regulation).

. (BSCI) as an entry level safety consultant. You report directly to Bob Sanders, the supervising Certified Safety Professional (CSP). BSCI has been contracted by Acme Manufacturing Co. to conduct a study to determine employee exposures to various particulates and gases. In addition, your company has been contracted to determine if the current ventilation systems that are in place are adequate to protect employees from an over exposure to these chemicals. After conducting a field assessment, prepare a written report that Bob Sanders can utilize to prepare a final comprehensive report for the Board of Directors. During your field investigation, you find the following field observations:

in the front and top. The company is worried about the welder’s exposure to iron oxide (PEL 10 mg/m³). For a valid sample, you must have a minimum of six hours of sampling (The remaining two hours of the work day is considered to be equal to or less than the sampled exposure. As a result of your air sampling over an eight-hour time period (i.e., the work schedule), you receive the following analytical report:

After taking the air samples for employee exposures to iron oxide, then measuring and calculating the performance of the local exhaust ventilation (paying particular attention to the specifics), what recommendations would you make to reduce the employee’s overexposure, if any, to the ventilation systems?
Hazardous Materials Storage Area
As part of your assessment, you have been asked to evaluate and determine if the hazardous materials storage area has adequate ventilation. In addition to the federal requirements, Acme’s insurance carrier requires that they have a minimum of 12 air changes per hour. In your evaluation, you collect the following information:
Area Width (ft.)
Area Length (ft.)
Area Height (ft.)
Ventilation Supply #1 (volume-cfm)
Ventilation Supply #2 (volume-cfm)

Determine if the current hazardous materials storage area is adequate and meets the requirements of Acme’s insurance carrier. What recommendations would you make to correct the discrepancies, if any?
Foundry Room
Acme has a foundry room, which is nearing the point of being outdated in terms of engineering controls. For example, one employee stands near an operation that has a canopy hood exhaust and routinely puts his face in the flow of the hood, causing him to inhale particulates and gases that are directly being drawn into the hood. Part of your evaluation is to make a recommendation for a new type of exhaust system. Which one would you recommend, and why?
Respond to the details in each section, and format your report in APA style. Include
at least
each of the following in your report for this unit:
Introduction-briefly describe why the studies were performed
(why you started the study)
.
Report details-briefly discuss the details of the scenario
(what you found from the study)
.
Conclusions and recommendations-briefly describe your recommendations based on your findings
(what you recommend to resolve any deficiencies)
.
Appendix-Measurements and calculations (show your work).

In a five-page expository essay, you will explore the mind–body connection in chronic illness. In your paper, you will address the following issues:
Start with an explanation of how the mind and body interact in a chronic illness. Use the principles of health psychology discussed to date in the course and analyze how these principles would apply to a chronic illness. Be sure to include a discussion of the relationship between psychological factors and wellness, along with all factors of the mind body connection as demonstrated in the Unit 3 Learning Activity. Illustrate this connection with at least three specific examples. Continue to incorporate these principles as you address the following questions:
What impact does chronic illness have on an individual and their families?
Using the information in your textbook about chronic illness, explain at least two reasons why addiction is considered a chronic illness.
How do you preserve relationships during and after treatment of a substance use disorder? Include at least two ways. Take into account the perspective of addiction as a chronic illness as you answer this question.
Describe the long-term treatment process for the individual with a substance use disorder. What are the support systems needed to remain in active recovery?
In closing, discuss how you will use the concepts in this paper in your personal and professional life.
Include reference to your textbook and at least two additional scholarly resources.
Information regarding APA formatting is at the Writing Center. APA formatting dictates how your paper should appear on each page.
Each Paper should include:
A title page
The paper itself (the “discussion”)
A reference page
Use standard margins: 1″ on all sides.
Use standard 12-point font size in Times New Roman or Arial.
Use standard double-spacing: average of 22 lines per page, and between 20 to 24 lines per page.

Overview: For this assignment, you will write a short paper addressing the controversial issue of obtaining a fair cross section of jurors to serve on a jury. By analyzing this specific issue, this paper will help prepare you for your Milestone Two submission in Module Five, where you will provide an in-depth analysis of the contemporary criminal justice issue that you have selected for your final project.
The continuing underrepresentation of some groups—including minorities, young adults, and the poor—remains a concern in attempting to create a fair cross section of the community represented on juries. One reason for this underrepresentation is obvious racism, bigotry, and prejudice. Another reason is that the poor often cannot afford to be on juries, because they will miss work and be compensated at a much lower wage to serve on the jury. Social class plays a strong role in conflict theory, as the theory suggests socioeconomic status directly affects the selection of jurors and the disparity in social class of those incarcerated in this country. Often, attorneys use peremptory challenges to exclude jurors, which require no show of cause or reasonable grounds to exclude. These peremptory challenges are often utilized when a juror seems apathetic or disinterested in the process. Peremptory challenges are limited in number, whereas challenges for cause (some type of conflict, bias, or affiliation with the involved parties) are unlimited.
Prompt: Address the following critical elements in your paper:
1. Issue Presented: Summarize the issue in the form of a brief one-sentence question.
2. Short Answer: Provide a short answer which summarizes the conclusion of the paper.
3. Statement of Facts: Describe how the issue may negatively affect public perception of the criminal justice system.
4. Discussion: Provide a brief discussion of the issue, including the recent history of the issue and any legal precedents related to it.
5. Conclusion: Provide a conclusion based on the details of the issue outlined in the Discussion section. 6. Recommendations: a) What recommendations should be in place to make sure that the jury pool contains a fair cross section of the community?
b) What are types of evidence-based practices can be employed to have people of lower socioeconomic status more willing to serve on a jury?
c) Based on your analysis of the issue using conflict theory, what are the best practices to ensure random selection of individuals to serve on a jury?
d) Address what the impact of this issue is on the criminal justice system. Are more organizations than only courts affected by this? Include examples of the impact on the different branches of the criminal justice system.
Reference your course readings in your submission to support your answers.
Must be APA format, 2-3 pages long.
