Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common cancer in South Asians (SA) with ethnic origins from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or the diaspora (1) (2). South Asians have some of the lowest CRC screening rates (3). A review of 55 screening interventions tailored for minorities found group education improved screening success (4). Similarly, a culturally-tailored “navigator” intervention increased CRC screening rates in an ethnically diverse population (5). Health promotion delivered through faith-based organizations has also proven effective at disseminating health information when targeting minority groups for outreach (6). Innovative outreach and prevention messages specifically tailored for older-aged SAs may address gaps in existing health knowledge regarding CRC prevention.
