THIS IS A TWO PAGES CONTINUATION ASSIGNMENT THAT MUST BE ASSIGNED TO M.JOHAR
n a previous assignment you began working on the construction of 10 Strategic Points. These points will be used when developing your Prospectus and further developed into your Proposal and then finally in your dissertation. This assignment gives you experience in the development of 10 Strategic Points for a study that you could design to replicate the Clark & Springer study.
    General Requirements:
Use “Constructing 10 Strategic Points” to complete this assignment.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
Include a minimum of five scholarly topic-relevant sources (majority of articles should be published within past 5 years)
You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.
    Directions:
Review the 10 Strategic Points constructed in Week 2 and the Clark and Springer (2007) study. Additionally, review the feedback provided by the instructor.
Use “Constructing 10 Strategic Points” to develop 10 Strategic Points for a replication of the Clark & Springer study that you could design for an undergraduate psychology program. Be sure to use resources in the DC network>Research/Dissertation tab> Prospectus templates to review the criteria for the purpose, problem, research questions and other Strategic Points.
Use the prompts and suggestions contained in the template to guide your work.

The translation of findings into broader knowledge is one of the main jobs that a scientist has.
I want you to produce “the guts” of a mock journal article detailing the energy and carbon
budgets of a surface. You will submit a sole- or multi-authored “paper” for publication in the
fictitious Journal of Unique Micrometeorological Observations. Your paper should use the
template provided. I have provided text for the Materials&Methods sections as well as all of
the figures that you might use. You will need to fill in the remainder of the ‘paper’. In real
multi-authored publications, there is an author who generally has the most responsibility for
the paper, however, if you are working in a group, I want you to share the responsibility so
authorship should be alphabetical by last name.
The template contains the following sections that your scientific paper should have:
    • Introduction: provides brief background from the real scientific literature about relevant
studies. Provides a justification for the current study. Be creative and come up with a
reason for the study but place it in real context.
    • Materials and Methods: provides details on the equipment used and the site where
measurements were taken. I have provided you with this section. I have also provided
the theory which will help you to interpret the figure results.
    • Results: provides graphical and written results of the measurements. Like we did in
class. What do you see? What are the trends, relationships etc. that are being shown?
    • Discussion: places the results in some context. What do the results mean? Are they as
    expected?
    • Conclusion: what is the finding of this ‘important’ study?
    How to proceed:
Essentially, I want you to create the story that the research results represented by the figures
tell. Use the figures supplied*. Create captions for any

Plato, Aristotle and The Theban Trilogy offer pretty much the same view of human nature, which is summed up in Aristotle’s
    Politics
Book 1 Chapter 2: Human Beings are political animals and Human Beings are animals having
    logos.
    Rousseau in the
    Discourse on Inequality
asserts that the specific human difference is “perfectibility.” (This is on page 88 paragraph 17, the translation uses the phrase, “faculty of self-improvement,” the French text has ‘perfectibilit,”)
Compare and Contrast these two views of being human. Can they be reconciled? Which of two better resonates with your sense of things? Etc.

  • [ANSWERED] Clutter is the disease of American writing. We are a society strangling in unnecessary words,…

Clutter is the disease of American writing. We are a society strangling in unnecessary words, circular constructions, pompous frills and meaningless jargon.
Who can understand the viscous language of everyday American commerce and enterprise: the business letter, the interoffice memo, the corporation report, the notice from the bank explaining its latest “simplified” statement? What member of an insurance or medical plan can decipher the brochure that tells him what his costs and benefits are? What father or mother can put together a child’s toy-on Christmas Eve or any other eve-from the instructions on the box? Our national tendency is to inflate and thereby sound important. The airline pilot who wakes us to announce that he is presently anticipating experiencing considerable weather wouldn’t dream of saying that there’s a storm ahead and it may get bumpy. The sentence is too simple-there must be something wrong with it.
But the secret of good writing is to strip every sentence to its cleanest components Every word that serves no function, every long word that could be a short word, every adverb which carries the same meaning that is already in the verb, every passive construction that leaves she reader unsure of who is doing what-these are the thousand and one adulterants that weaken the strength of a sentence. And they usually occur, ironically, in proportion to education and rank.
During the late 1960s the president of a major university wrote a letter to mollify the alumni after a spell of campus unrest. “You are probably aware,” he began, “that we have been experiencing very considerable potentially explosive expressions of dissatisfaction on issues only partially related.” He meant that the students had been hassling them about different things. I was far more upset by the president’s English than by the students’ potentially explosive expressions of dissatisfaction. I would have preferred the presidential approach taken by Franklin D. Roosevelt when he tried to convert into English his own government’ memos, such as this blackout order of 1942:
“Such preparations shall be made as will completely obscure all Federal buildings and non-Federal buildings occupied by the Federal government during an air raid for any period of time from visibility by reason of internal or external illumination.”
“Tell them,” Roosevelt said, “that in buildings where they have to keep the work going to put something across the windows.”
Simplify, simplify. Thoreau said it, as we are so often reminded, and no American writer more consistently practiced what he preached. Open Walden to any page and you will find a man saying in a plain and orderly way what is on his mind…
How can the rest of us achieve such enviable freedom from clutter? The answer is to clear our heads of clutter. Clear thinking becomes clear writing: one can’t exist without the other. It is impossible for a
