Some factors that can cause FBA data not to be valid are :
Collecting data in a controlled environment
Vague reporting of the subject’s behavior, as opposed to detailing specific actions. For example, if the child kicks, scream, and gets physical during a tantrum episode, saying the child throws a tantrum without describing all the behavior involved could cause the data to be invalid.
Underreporting the frequency of the behavior
Failing to report triggers, what happens right before the behavior
failure to report all factors that might be causing the behavior such as place, people around the child when the behavior occurs, duration of the behavior, etc.
Some strategies to prevent invalid data is to do the opposite to what causes the invalid data:
Observe the subject in their natural, uncontrolled environment.
Report the behavior in its entirety, detail exactly what the child is doing. State accurately the frequency of the behavior as well as the duration of the same. Keenly state what is taking place before the behavior, where it is taking place, and who is around the child whenever it happens. Comment as you see fit. Min 40 words or more -

When I did the interview with my mentor teachers about how do they come up with their classroom management plan the first answer “was we have no plan”. They laughed a bit and stated that its different every year because the dynamics of each class is different. There is no plan that you will write out and use it to 100%. This made me feel a little anxious nd excited at the same time. I was anxious because I thought how would I know what works then? I felt excited because I thought well we will all be learning eachother together. I realized that the same way we do not know who our stduents are we are strangers to them as well when the very first bell rings for school. Comment as you see fit. Min 40 words or more

Observe an early childhood classroom that includes children with exceptionalities. Seek permission from your mentor teacher to collect data on his or her behalf. Be sure to maintain the confidentiality of the students. Do not use students’ real names in your assignment.
Ask to review data that your mentor teacher has collected. Decipher the data, and devise instructional interventions for at least one student in your field experience classroom. Discuss your interventions with your mentor teacher. If you do not have access to this data, work with your mentor teacher to create sample data to analyze.
Additionally, interview the early childhood classroom teacher about the same topics.
Your interview should address the following questions:
How do you record data regarding student behaviors?
How do you multitask when collecting data while giving instruction or while during other responsibilities?
How long do you collect data on a student? Why?
In how many settings is data normally collected?
How long is seen as enough to collect data to make intervention decisions?
How do formal assessments help in making instructional decisions?
In any remaining field experience hours, assist the teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.
