Pierce College AFT released this memo and the following document on August 25, 2020:
On Tuesday August 18th, the Pierce College delegation to the Faculty Guild Executive Board presented a Resolution to Remove the Old Trapper’s Lodge Statues from the grounds of Pierce College (Resolution attached). The Executive Board of the Faculty Guild, representing the elected officers and representatives of all nine campuses voted unanimously in its favor. We are grateful to our union family across the district in this show of support and solidarity. Many of us have long been ashamed by this blight on our landscape. The Old Trapper’s Lodge statues not only are ill-suited for these awakened times, but I cannot imagine any time where such shameful depictions of indigenous people were deemed appropriate. It is long past time we unburden this campus from housing this deplorable landmark. We have had several discussions with President Montevirgen on this issue and we share similar sentiments. I cannot find many if any among the faculty, staff and administration that are proud of these objects. As this site is listed as a state landmark, we must wade into a thicket of bureaucracy to achieve our ultimate objective, which is their permanent removal from the grounds. We will persist. We will return to campus one day, but we will never return to “normal.” We will never go back to the way things were, nor should we want to. Let us reimagine the type of campus we wish to return to and create a new and better environment for us and our students. This here is an opportunity to redefine what we do, how we do it and where we do it. We will accomplish all of this, together.I have copied our executive board delegation in this message. Please reach out to any of us if you wish to learn more about our advocacy on your behalf. I wish you all the best as we prepare for the Fall semester. In Solidarity,Brian Patrick WalshPierce College Chapter PresidentAFT 1521
STEP 2: Writing and defending your claim
A claim or an “argument” in this context refers to the statement you are defending in your paper. It’s not a fight. Your claim should be one of the following:
acceptance
: keeping the statues where they are
erasure
: destroying the statues
preservation
: moving them from the college to a different location
Compose your argument in 1-2 paragraphs.
Cite your sources!
Name-calling or aggression toward decision-makers, admin, staff, faculty, and students will not be tolerated. For this type of behavior, you will be given a score of 0 and depending on the severity, will probably be reported for disciplinary action.

Cultural and Ethical Issues
Amazon.com Inc. has an organizational culture that enables business capacity to respond to the demands of the e-commerce market. A company’s organizational or corporate culture sets the traditions and values that influence employees’ behaviors.
Amazon’s corporate culture reinforces the company’s, pioneering efforts in this type of online retail business. However, a disadvantage of Amazon’s organizational culture, is that it imposes a strain on human resources, especially in pushing employees to take a bold and peculiar non-conventional approach in doing their jobs.
The majority of the ethical issues are tax evasion so after a bit more research it seems that Amazon patty just fifteen million pounds in tax on the European revenue of over nineteen point five billion pounds which. is less than 0.3 percent of their revenue Amazon was then ordered by the European Union to repay 250 million euros which were to not only gain the money back which Amazon should have paid in the first place but to help with the economies of the European countries that had suffered with the loss of revenue that should have been gained by Amazon operating in their country they are struggling to gain this money back from
Amazon to this day an example of this is Luxembourg where Amazon has an office and a production center Amazon seem to only pay so to have only paid an average of seven point two five percent of their products made in Luxembourg compared to the national rate of 29 percent the money lost from Amazon not paying their fair share of corporation tax could have benefit in the country.
Most of the Amazon shoppers force to company to become more ethical by paying their fair share of corporation tax and showing how it affects different countries’ economies.

During the height of the pandemic, Amazon prioritized stocking household and medical supplies, which tend to be sold directly from Amazon itself, and had paused shipments from third-party marketplace sellers in nonessential categories.
Amazon has direct marketing tool that records interaction between the customers and a brand to serve their interests and needs.
Amazon put technology as their most important aspect in their business execution therefore it is necessary for them to have a relational database of customers including a history of their purchases, and activity an efficient and brand enhancing, site design including navigational tools, and its automated communication system, that ensures timely and relevant communication.
