Mr. Akkad is a 76 year old Iranian male who is brought to your office by his eldest son for “strange behavior.” Mr. Akkad was seen by his family physician who ruled out any organic basis for Mr. Akkad’s behavior. All laboratory and diagnostic imaging tests (including CT-scan of the head) were normal.
According to his son, he has been demonstrating some strange thoughts and behaviors for the past two years, but things seem to be getting worse. Per the client’s son, the family noticed that Mr. Akkad’s personality began to change a few years ago. He began to lose interest in religious activities with the family and became more “critical” of everyone. They also noticed that things he used to take seriously had become a source of “amusement” and “ridicule.”
Over the course of the past two years, the family has noticed that Mr. Akkad has been forgetting things. His son also reports that sometimes he has difficult “finding

A commentary on the passage (Book 1, ll. 66-93; given at the end) from “The House of Fame” by Geoffrey Chaucer?
    some directions for the commentary:
    1. Identify the passage and situate it. Mention the focus of your commentary.
    2. Main part of the commentary: comment on the thematic engagements and language used to pursue them: what words rhyme together, is there alliteration, are there words repeated, rhetorical devices deployed in the passage, words that have several possible meanings and may therefore be interpreted in different ways? How are the themes developed? What is the effect on the reader?
    3. Comment on the relationship between your passage and other moments in the text/other sources and extend your discussion beyond the passage itself.
    the passage:
But at my ginninge, trusteth wel,

    With special devocioun,

  • [ANSWERED] Standardized assessments are beneficial to English Language Learners because it allows the…

Standardized assessments are beneficial to English Language Learners because it allows the teacher, student, school, and the family the ability to understand the progress of the student. The tests are used to demonstrate how well an ELL student is adjusting to using the English language in terms of academic language and student participation (Herrell & Jordan, 2015). Once the student is perceived to reach proficient levels of speaking and writing the English language, they can test out of sheltered programs to enter a traditional classroom. Teachers use these standardized tests to help adjust their lesson plans to accommodate the individual needs of the different ELL students (Herrell & Jordan, 2015). These assessments help to identify students’ English language development levels, strengths, and learning levels (Herrell & Jordan, 2015). There is a lot of mixed opinions on the benefits of using standardized tests for ELL students. A teacher would usually use these tests as a guide to altering their lesson plan. I have heard that many teachers use the tests only as a guide, and they rely on their own forms of assessments and observations of the students. For example, if a teacher notices that a student doesn’t test well he or she may give the test orally to see if the student can be more successful. Comment as you see fit. Min 50 words or more

One reason why ELL instructors differentiate instruction in the classroom is because differentiated instruction is student centered. Student centered instructionnarrows the delivery of information to meet the student’s needs. This can be done throughmodifying content or suppling additional supports for ELL students in theclassroom.Another reasonaninstructor might differentiate instruction for ELL students is to be proactive in the educational process. The teacher recognizes that ELL students have different methods of learning and these needs are addressed as lesson plans are created to containa variety of techniques to convey the objectives in the lesson.Differentiated instruction is also a blend of whole-class, small group, and individual instructional procedures that support the content being presented.ELL students are given the opportunity to work individually, in small groups, and in whole-class discussions to build their communication skills and strengthen their Englishacquisition process. AnotherreasonanELLinstructor would differentiate instruction isbecause differentiation is rooted in assessment. Assessments allow teachers to clearly see who “got it” and who still needs time to master the objective (Tomlinson, 2017).Teachers must get to know their students to understand what learning process best suits them and direct the instruction in such a way that all learning styles can be reached.
