(1) Please describe how 'The Three R's' are ordered by how impactful those actions are. (2) Given the issues with recycling, why do you think it is still included in being more sustainable than putting waste in landfills? (3) Are there times when recycling is not better than landfilling some types of waste? (4) How will knowing this affect YOUR actions moving forward?

DB (NO MORE THAN 150 WORDS)

Hello class! Looks like we made it to the end!

When a company like X5RL creates a breakthrough treatment, the question of whether people can afford it gets complicated fast. Technically, the public’s financial struggles aren’t X5RL’s “problem,” but it’s hard to argue they shouldn’t care. Pharmaceutical companies benefit from patents, public funding, and a lot of trust from society, so it feels reasonable to expect them to think beyond profit when the product literally saves lives (Weiss, 2021). If they ignore the fact that huge groups of people can’t access the treatment, they might make money in the short run, but they risk losing credibility and facing backlash later.

There are realworld examples that show companies can balance profit and responsibility. GSK, for instance, used tiered pricing and lowered costs for certain medications in lowincome countries. They still protected their IP, but they also made sure people who needed the drugs weren’t completely shut out (GSK, 2023). On the flip side, insulin manufacturers have been heavily criticized for keeping prices high, even though insulin is essential for survival. That situation shows how prioritizing profit too aggressively can damage a company’s reputation and even push lawmakers to step in.

For X5RL, a CSRfocused strategy could include tiered pricing, licensing the drug to generic manufacturers in poorer regions, or partnering with global health organizations to expand access. These options let the company keep earning revenue while still honoring ethical principles like fairness and beneficence (Freeman et al., 2020). At the end of the day, protecting IP and making money doesn’t have to conflict with doing the right thing. Innovation matters, but it matters a lot more when everyone can benefit from it.

LD (no more than 150 words)

The central issue is not a simple choice between profit and people; rather, it is whether innovation can be structured in a way that sustains financial incentives while honoring the broader social contract that underpins public trust in healthcare systems.

For X5RL, integrating corporate social responsibility into its intellectual property strategy does not mean sacrificing profitability. Instead, it calls for intentional design what might be described as structured differentiation. A tiered pricing model, in which higher-income markets effectively subsidize access in lower-income regions, allows the company to protect its patent rights, recover research and development investments, and fund future innovation while simultaneously expanding equitable access to treatment.

History demonstrates the consequences of failing to strike this balance. Insulin manufacturers, though operating within legal and economic frameworks that justified pricing through R&D and supply-chain costs, faced significant public backlash when price increases were perceived as limiting access to life-sustaining medication.

The result was reputational harm, regulatory scrutiny, and policy reform. These outcomes illustrate that legal compliance alone is insufficient when public health is at stake. By proactively aligning intellectual property protection with accessible pricing strategies, X5RL can position itself not only as a profitable innovator, but as a responsible steward of transformative healthcare preserving both its market leadership and its legitimacy in the eyes of society.

The dataset has also been adjusted from any previous iteration of the AA5221 course. You must download this new dataset and load it into your chosen software application for this summative assessment.

Throughout this course, you have learned about research methods, data analysis techniques, and statistical tests to study the differences among (or between) various groups of a dataset. In this final assessment assignment, you will comprehensively apply the course concepts you have learned during the first six weeks of the course to demonstrate your mastery of the course concepts. The data you will use in this assessment is an expanded Human Resources (HR) dataset. Therefore, you will be very familiar with the data variables for this assignment. **However, please note that this HR dataset is different from the dataset you've used in previous assignments.** The new, expanded HR data is posted on Canvas in the Week 7 module, specifically within the 'Dataset for Assessment' tab.————-

**Background.** As you’ve experienced in the first weeks of this course, the HR Director at our notional company continues to seek knowledge related to our current and former workforce. For this final assessment assignment, the HR Director wants your help to form a _holistic assessment of the factors potentially related to_ employee retention (stay vs leave) and their performance levels, including how these factors relate to factors such as workload (average monthly work hours), salary, filing complaints, and how well employees are valued (last evaluation). The HR Director has given you five tasks each with several sub-tasks, which are described below.

**Task 1: Basic data analysis and descriptive statistics**

    – Briefly explain the HR Dataset for the HR Director, including a short description of the variables and their measurement scales (e.g., nominal, ordinal, scale).
    – Produce a bar chart showing the different counts for two mutually exclusive groups of employees: those who left the company, those who stayed with the company. Calculate and report the proportion of employees who have left the company.
    – Generate descriptive statistics (specifically the mean, median, mode, standard deviation, kurtosis, and skewness) for the performance scores of the two mutually exclusive groups, i.e., descriptive statistics for those who left the company and for those who stayed.
    – Produce two frequency distributions (i.e., histograms) of performance scores, one for each mutually exclusive group of employees (those who left, those who stayed). Explain and interpret the resultant shape of the frequency distributions.
    – Provide an interpretation of the descriptive statistics of the performance scores between the two mutually exclusive groups of those who left and those who stayed.

    **Task 2: Z score interpretations**

    – Produce a set of z scores for performance level for all employees in the dataset. Then, conduct descriptive statistics of the z scores and report the resultant mean and standard deviation of the z scores.
    – Interpret the z score for performance level for the first employee in the dataset (i.e., the first record in the HR dataset, employee #1). How does this employee’s performance level compare relatively to all employees (current and former) in the HR dataset? Does this employee perform better or worse relative to other employees?

**Task 3: Tests of differences and associations**

    – Conduct the appropriate statistical test to answer the following question: do those who have left the company differ from those who have stayed in terms of their average monthly work hours? Justify the test you used and explain if the difference is meaningful assuming a statistical significance threshold of 0.05 (i.e., α = 0.05).
    – Conduct the appropriate statistical test to answer the following question: do those who have left the company differ from those who have stayed in terms of their salary level? [Note: for this question you should assume the salary level is ordinal, i.e., salary level 1 is less than salary level 2 and salary level 2 is less than salary level 3]. Justify the test you used and explain if the difference is meaningful assuming a statistical significance threshold of 0.05 (i.e., α = 0.05).
    – Conduct the appropriate statistical test to answer the following question: are those who have filed a complaint more likely to have left than those who have not filed a complaint? Justify the test you used and explain if the difference is meaningful assuming a statistical significance threshold of 0.05 (i.e., α = 0.05).

**Task 4: Correlations and regression analysis**

    – What is the correlation between turnover (using the nominal variable "left") and performance level? Justify the correlation statistic you used and explain if the correlation is meaningful assuming a statistical significance threshold of 0.05 (i.e., α = 0.05).
    – Create a scatterplot of employee's last evaluation score (as a predictor variable on the x-axis) and employee's performance level (as an outcome variable on the y-axis). Provide an informal interpretation of any general trends in the scatterplot between the two variables, i.e., is there a positive or negative correlation between the two variables?
    – Conduct a bivariate linear regression between last evaluation (predictor) and performance level (outcome). Provide a summary of your results including the appropriate output tables. Finally, interpret the regression results in terms of overall model fit (F statistic), the regressor value (β) and its significance (p-value), and amount of variance in the data accounted for by the regressor (adjusted _R2_).

**Task 5: Summarize what you learned about employee retention and performance from your analysis, as well as the other factors you think might be related to retention or performance**

    – Which factors seem to be most related to retention?
    – Which factors seem to be most related to performance?

    maria 7900

Climate change is a crucial global health determinant, a process that has been accelerated by energy generation systems that are based on fossil fuels. Such systems also increase the release of greenhouse gases that speed up global warming and lead to a rise in more extreme weather such as floods, droughts, and storms (Romanello et al., 2024). These disasters interfere with infrastructure, move people from their homes, and expose at-risk communities to a higher risk of health.

The combination of climate change and energy consumption creates environmental instability that now endangers world food systems and global public health. Climate-driven shocks have considerably escalated food insecurity and weakened global resilience (Fanzo et al., 2025). In addition, climate change-driven agricultural instability has increased the likelihood of malnutrition and disease, thereby making climate change-related environmental degradation and population health more interrelated (Begna, 2025).

**(a) Disaster Phases and Impact on Conflict and Health**

Disasters generally occur in the four phases of: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Mitigation aims to reduce long-term risk through sustainable infrastructure and environmental planning. But mitigating with climate variability has become more difficult. Preparedness consists of preparedness plans, training, and surveillance mechanisms, but resource disparities limit the global readiness infrastructure.

Response emphasizes emergency interventions at times of greatest risk for disease, injury and displacement to local populations. Recovery attempts to return back to normalcy but is often delayed by economic dislocation and political volatility. In fact, climate disasters tend to deepen conflict due to intensified competition for available resources, such as land and water. Recent global studies indicate that the combination of conflict and environmental shocks caused acute food insecurity to millions of people in the world (Global Report on Food Crises, 2025).

    **(b) Agriculture and Health Interrelationship**

Climate change is having a profound impact on agriculture — in changes to rainfall patterns, soil degradation, and temperature extremes. All of these factors drastically lower crop productivity and nutritional quality (Begna, 2025). Lower agricultural production results in malnutrition and lessens immunity, increasing susceptibility to disease. Environmental stress might also amplify zoonotic disease spread as it interrupts ecosystems (Fanzo et al., 2025). Conversely, sustainable agricultural systems improve population health by ensuring access to nutritious food and stabilizing food supply chains.

**(c) Food Quantity and Food Security Amid Global Political Challenges**

Food security relies on availability, access, and stability. Climate-driven catastrophes and political instability can affect every aspect of those dimensions. Findings demonstrate that climate shocks together with geopolitical crises have elevated hunger levels worldwide in the past several years (Global Report on Food Crises, 2025).

    Maintaining food security requires:

    • Climate-resilient agricultural systems

    • Diversified energy strategies

    • International policy cooperation Global coordination remains essential to prevent widespread food insecurity in climate-affected regions (Romanello et al., 2024).

    **DNP Essentials Alignment**

This discussion would be consistent with the DNP-prepared nurse’s obligation to impact these global determinants of health. Integrating these areas of climate resilience, disaster preparedness, and food security demonstrates DNP Essential III (Population Health) and Essential V (Health Policy Advocacy). DNP leaders are critical to driving interdisciplinary strategies that improve global health resilience to climate-related challenges. In addition, DNP-prepared nurses are uniquely situated to influence policy development that promotes sustainable health systems and equitable access to essential resources during environmental crises.

Their advanced leadership skills allow them to make strides from clinical practice to public health initiatives, with vulnerable populations protected against the disproportionate effects that climate-related disasters may have on them. At the same time, DNP professionals play a part in creating a framework that aims to prevent long-term chaos from occurring; this way community stability and health system adaptability are supported.

Based on evidence-based advocacy and systems thinking, DNP leaders can guide innovative solutions that bolster readiness, reduce risks, and encourage sustainability of global health by implementing new approaches that are supported by effective advocacy and systemic thinking.
