Roger works for a business software firm and is passionate about his work. He is committed to delivering high-quality software solutions on schedule. He maintains a precise and accurate project schedule with meticulously detailed documentation of product design specifications and processes. Roger’s subordinates never have to guess about their performance expectations. When the rigorous quality assurance process uncovers a problem, Roger can proceed largely unfazed. He knows the capabilities of the developers on his team so well that he knows exactly who to assign to resolve the issue. He is quick to offer encouragement and guidance when needed. Roger’s team is productive and happy.

Linda works at the same company as Roger. She closely monitors industry trends. She is watching the rapid rise of mobile computing and sees competitors introducing new mobile applications with rapid speed. The company has yet to attempt to design software for a mobile platform, but she knows that the company could become competitive in the industry if it created changes quickly. She is working hard to gain support from members of the executive board and is planning a kickoff meeting with employees to announce the company’s entry into the new market. She wants to make certain the employees see the change as a great opportunity and realize that training will be available. She already has the company’s first mobile project and an ideal timetable in mind. She is anxious to hit the ground running.

    PRIMARY CARE Scenario

    Type of care provided

    Scenario

Care in this type of setting is delivered by physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and ad-
vanced practice professionals. This area of health care is the most widely used, and it is a major focus
of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, focusing on primary care providers and decreasing the focus on the
    utilization of specialty providers.

This primary care organization has a high focus on creating an environment for their most valuable as-
    set—their employees.

Last year, as a result of gaining more feedback from the employees, the facility contracted the services
of a third-party organization to conduct an employee survey. The result was some surprising comments
from employees regarding missed opportunities for promotions, special assignments, and skills certifica-
    tion/licensure.

The Director of Human Resources, meeting with the executive staff to review the survey results, places
an emphasis on some ongoing problems and create some action plans for resolving and rectifying the
employee concerns. He states that the organization has a very good performance management system
that includes good rating instruments and clearly stated policy and procedures for ensuring each em-
ployee receives fair and constructive feedback for the review period.

Under initial scrutiny, the performance management system seems to indicate that the Director of Hu-
man Resources is correct: The system is almost perfect. However, upon closer examination and further
analysis, it appears that some managers use the system as designed, but others use a more preferred
    approach that fits their “team.”

When considering that noncompliance with the current system could result in wrongful terminations and
failure to gain a promotion or new assignment, how would you address the following:

    Question 1
Are performance evaluations required by law? Why or why not? (Performance Management System)

    Question 2
How should managers receive special training in the use of the appraisal system? How would you hold
the managers accountable for the proper use of performance appraisal systems?

    Question 3
How do you determine if a performance appraisal system is effective or ineffective?

    Question 4
How do you determine the factors used in the evaluation of employee performance?

    Question 5
Given the feedback from the survey, what are the potential benefits of the workplace culture if ethical
decisions for the common good that are consistent with the Christian worldview and integrates the
Christian worldview within a discipline and vocation for the common good are included in the policies.

    Assignment #3: Final Written Assignment

    Due 2/28/2026

Write a 4-page paper. All references need to be open access.

As outlined in Chapter 17 of your textbook working in Child Protection is a rewarding yet challenging experience.  Papers must be a minimum of four pages and maximum six pages; Title & Reference page do not count for page numbers and Abstract not required.  You must use APA Publication Manuel Seven for formatting and you may use tables or other visuals to supplement your written reflection.  Please use Chapter 17 in the textbook, Understanding Child Abuse and Neglect, 10th ed. Crosson-Tower, C. (2021). Pearson) as well as at least three other scholarly articles (peer reviewed), and respond to the following reflective questions.

    · What are the risks and challenges individuals will face working in Child Protection?

    · What can agencies and systems do to support the health and wellness of individuals working in Child Protection?

    · What can individuals do support their own health and wellness when working in a system where exposure to trauma of others is “part of the job?”

    · Based on your research and review, reflect on this hypothetical scenario.  You are in a court room (civil court) and reporting back to the Judge after three months of child protection services for a child who was victimized and experienced both physical abuse and neglect.  Mother has been responsive, however, has struggled to maintain sobriety which is a primary requirement of their family plan and in a recent supervised visit there was concern that she may be under the influence of illicit drugs.  Child is clearly attached to her mother and all parties want reunification to be the end goal.  At this time, it is not your recommendation that the supervised visitation be pulled back although you know mother wants supervised visitation to end and to have her child back home.  You will have to make your recommendation, in court, with mother present.  The child will be in the hallway/room outside of the court room as well.  What steps will you take to prepare yourself beforehand? How will you prepare your court recommendations? How will you prepare for what may be an emotional response and an intense court date?  What steps will you take to ensure your health and wellness?
