think its always important to start out with thinking about what is best fot the child and what will be the least restrcitive enviorment for them. You don’t want to restrict a child too much that doesn’t need restrictions, but you also want to make sure they are getting plenty of supports and services at the school they will be attending.
Depending on the students needs parents may not always have a choice of school, but if they did have a choice I would advise them to start with the least restrcitve school find out what services they will have, will thier child have an aide, are there other special needs students etc. After doing this I would do this with each school to make sure their child will get the best services and best exposure until they find one that fits.
I would also advise them not to settle. Their students education is important and getting them in the best envioroment possible with the best teachers can make a world of a difference for a childs education. Comment as you see fit

Teaching is very different from in the past. “Changes have affected both the opportunities and the challenges of teaching, as well as the attitudes, knowledge, and skills needed to prepare for a teaching career.” (Lumen n.d.). I feel that the changes have been positive. There has been an increased diversity, diversity has made teaching more fulfilling. Increased instructional technology, the students use computers more often today than in the past. Also, there has been a greater accountability in education and increased professionalism of teachers. One of the positive changes that I feel is one of the biggest changes is diversity of special educational needs. “The laws also recognize that such students need special supports in order to learn or function effectively in a classroom with non-disabled peers, so they provide for special services and procedures for making individualized educational plans for students with disabilities.” (Lumen n.d.). Special education has come a very long way to help students now days. I also feel students learn better with hands on and when the teacher is interacting with students, instead of up at the front of the room teaching the whole day. Teaching has come a very long way and I love the way we are having to teach now.
