    …………………………………………………………………………….

The spheres of political action in nursing can also be identified as different levels in policy.  According to our lesson the different levels can include workplace, government, associations or groups and the community.  Political action will be apparent in all four levels.  Involving our workplace, politics will always be present.  There are different levels of managerial positions that lead up to the administrative level, where majority of decisions for the organization are made.  Within the government level, all political actions and decisions are made primarily at the capital during session.  This level is the highest because of the decisions that must be made not only state wide, but country wide and affects everyone across the US.  The next level of associations or groups focuses on pollical action on a smaller scale. Examples of this type of association would include The Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).  This association meets once a month to discuss current break throughs with new medical research that will benefit our patients.  The final level would include the community.  This level would incorporate everyone in the community who wants to help in making a positive difference in our community and even in our school systems.  It’s very important to have nurses involved in the development of health policy.  According to IOM, “Nurses are well qualified to participate in developing health policy by applying their knowledge of the health-care system and their analytic and communication skills” (Hall Ellenbecker et al., 2017, p. 44).  The experience nurses have from working on the floor allows them to give real life scenarios when it comes to putting new health policies into action and if it will be successful or not.

Currently in my workplace they are starting to roll out a new acuity system that should be incorporated state wide soon in all hospitals.  The system is called Clarvia.  The government is setting certain standards the hospitals are supposed to follow when it comes to the correct number of hours of care each patient needs to get depending on their acuity level.  The administration level of our organization decided to roll out the new system called Clarvia.  It will be the charge nurse’s responsibility to make sure the assignment for every nurse on the floor is fair and correct.  The responsibility of the nurse on the floor will be to chart properly and timely for the system to update the correct acuity for the patient, so if needed, the charge nurse will see the acuity has changed for this patient and the assignment needs to be changed so the patient can have the proper care they need.  The workplace and government levels overlap here because the organization is having to roll out a new system throughout the organization to reach standards set by the government.  Some ethical considerations to think about for the overlapping of the levels include considerations of how this system will work for the patient.  Will the patient be affected in a negative way with this new system or can it benefit the patient in the level of care the patient will receive once the acuity is updated throughout the shift.  It always helps to have the opinion of the nurses on the floor before rolling out a new procedure or system.  The floor nurses know from experience what works best and what may not succeed as well and unfortunately majority of the time, nurses’ opinions are not asked or taken into consideration. Political action in nursing

Respond to The four spheres of political action in nursing essay post as if it were me. Min 150 words, min 1 scholarly citation (no older than 5 years), Strict APA format, ASK A question at the end.

    POST

The four spheres of political action in nursing are listed as the government, the workplace, interest groups, and the community (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, & O’Grady, 2016). Each of the four spheres are influential to policies that affect the health care of our nation and its people.

    ORDER A CUSTOM-WRITTEN PAPER NOW

In our reading the four spheres are described as:

    1. Government – regulates many health care policies for the people, even sought as the leader in policy development for private sectors when deciding health care policies.

    2. Workplace – the setting in which a nurse is employed and regulated by its internal or external influences of policies. The four spheres of political action in nursing essay.

    3. Interest groups – nursing associations for example, can increase the amount of advocacy for a group of nurses in their influence on health care policies.

    4. Community – a group of people that share a geographical area, that also share a common interest. The four spheres of political action in nursing essay.

The four spheres are most definitely interconnected and overlap each other. In my nursing practice, I have always worked in the acute care setting. I was born and raised in the community that I know serve as a nurse. My community is a small town, with a recent increase in growth within the last two years due to more jobs being offered with big box distribution centers being created in our community. Not only have I seen this growth in the last two years, but there has always been the influence of the snow birds in our community, residing in the well-known area of The Villages. In my community, we also have the very popular event Horses in The Sun (HITS) every year, which brings many travelers as well. My community features a large population that lives in the range of poverty and/or lower class economic statures. In working in acute care, I see the results of people living in poverty. They do not have access to primary health care and do not seek medical attention until the circumstance may have become too detrimental to their health and in an “unfixable state”. In my workplace, we do not deny access to people in our community that do have health insurance coverage, but it is undeniable that their health care services and treatments are different than a person who does have medical health insurance. We have many interest groups in our community that provide means of health care for the population that lacks access to health care needs. For example, we have the Marion County Nurses Association and we have the non-profit organization called FREEdom Health Care. FREEdom Heath Care provides free of charge health, dental, and vision care to the lower-class citizens of the county once a year, all managed by volunteers and donations. The four spheres of political action in nursing essay.

In my experience as a nurse, there has always been ethical considerations when caring for lower-class/poverty level patients. Many people, even nurses can be “quick to judge” and biased towards a person who may not have the means of access to health care, maybe even judging as far as thinking they deserve to be sick since they do not have primary health care. When saying this aloud, yes – it sounds completely immoral and wrong for a nurse to be biased in this way, but let’s face it, we have all seen this type of judgement occur against the underprivileged population. Education in ethical considerations should happen early on within the education of a nurse. Training a nurse in ethical awareness as a precedent of ethical sensitivity can encourage the nurse to be morally responsible in their care for others (Milliken & Grace, 2017). Specifically, ethical sensitivity defined as “understanding of the patient’s situation” should be addressed when caring for any person (Milliken & Grace, 2017). The four spheres of political action in nursing essay.

    Self-care evidence-based practice

Please respond to this Self-care evidence-based practice post. APA, citation and reference need it.

Researching self-care evidence-based practice is significant in ensuring patients meet their self-care deficit demands. According to Ambrosy et al. (2014), registered heart failure readmissions in the globe account for a total of 26 million individuals. In U.S and Europe, the readmissions were 1 million (Merkow et al., 2015, p.1123). The evidence-based practice of the study formulating education-based intervention for outpatient heart failure health facilities that aim at lowering hospital readmissions.

    ORDER A CUSTOM-WRITTEN PAPER

The sample will include patients that were previously discharged in heart failure clinics and their families. Discharged heart failure patients and their families reflect the population as identified for the purposes of study because they are the most affected stakeholders. Also, families of the patients take nursing roles at home. The sample will be selected using stratified and theoretical sampling techniques. Theoretical sampling focus on collecting a series of data with an aim of developing theory (Etikan, & Bala, 2017, p.2). The technique is appropriate for the study because, in this type of sampling, a research has to have information about the general perspective of the study area and identify key concepts of the research. It allows a high degree of flexibility when determining concepts of a theory because it prevents limiting one-self to a particular concept of an evidence-based practice that results in researchers overlooking other concepts. It involves grouping an entire population into homogenous subgroups deepening on the factors of study. Stratified sampling is appropriate because it reduces sampling errors that lead to improved precision during the study. According to Etikan and Bala (2017), it produces less variability in the study because each stratum selected for the study is mutually exclusive depending on their characteristics or factors of study (p.2). Therefore, stratified and theoretical sampling methods are appropriate for descriptive, meta-analytic, experimental and correlational research design. Self-care evidence-based practice.

The sample size of 70 discharged patients is appropriate because it allows conducting statistical analysis such as t-test and multi-variant regression analysis. Considering that random sampling is used when selecting the population from a particular stratum, the sample size can be used to represent the findings of the entire generalized group. The population size is generalized to Omaha city. The study used analytical generalization whose generalizability is restricted by casual extrapolation on whether the organized variance between control and experimental groups are reinforced by statistical evidence. Also, the degree to which an experiment can be conducted in such a way that the experimental group results can be ascribed to a particular operating cause-driven from EBP intervention limit the generalizability. Self-care evidence-based practice.

The design used was descriptive, meta-analytic, experimental and correlational research design. Combination of the study design flow with the previously discussed parts of the research because it involved trying to lower the increased rate of hospital readmissions of heart failure patients by focusing on developing an EBP that can be proved theoretically. Also, it may help the participants to fulfill self-care deficit. Self-care evidence-based practice. Self-care evidence-based practice.

Nursing: Demand for safe, high-quality, and effective health care services

As health care delivery in the United States continues to evolve, either through mandates, improved technologies and training, or other drivers, nurses remain at the forefront in facilitating the success of new initiatives. In 2010, the Institute of Medicine formed a committee of experts to address the following question:

“What roles can nursing assume to address the increasing demand for safe, high-quality, and effective health care services?”

    ORDER A PLAGIARISM-FREE PAPER

In the final report of the committee, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, the authors stated:

This report offers recommendations that collectively serve as a blueprint to

    (1) ensure that nurses can practice to the full extent of their education and training,

    (2) improve nursing education,

    (3) provide opportunities for nurses to assume leadership positions and to serve as full partners in health care redesign and improvement efforts, and

    (4) improve data collection for workforce planning and policy making. (p. 10)

For this Discussion, you will focus on the research recommendations presented by the committee concerning the role of nurses as leaders. The committee members believe that answers to these research questions are needed to advance the profession of nursing and to further expand their role in health care reform and improvement. Nursing: demand for safe, high-quality, and effective health care services.

    To prepare:

•Review Chapter 7 in The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health report provided in the Learning Resources. Focus on the information in Box 7.3, “Research Priorities for Transforming Nursing Leadership.”

(I am leaning toward one of these 2 – • Identification of the characteristics of mentors that have been (or could be) most successful in recruiting and training diverse nurses and nurse faculty. • Identification of the influence of nursing on important health care decisions at all levels.)

•Select one of the research priorities listed in Box 7.3 that is of particular interest to you and applicable to your career interests. Consider the benefits and challenges of researching and addressing this priority in nursing.

Maladaptive Responses to Immune Disorders Discussion Paper

Maladaptive responses to disorders are compensatory mechanisms that ultimately have adverse health effects for patients. For instance, a patient’s allergic reaction to peanuts might lead to anaphylactic shock, or a patient struggling with depression might develop a substance abuse problem. To properly diagnose and treat patients, advanced practice nurses must understand both the pathophysiology of disorders and potential maladaptive responses that some disorders cause.

    Laboratory values are as follows:

    Hemoglobin = 8 g/dl

    Hematocrit = 32%

    Erythrocyte count = 3.1 x 10/mm

RBC smear showed microcytic and hypochromic cells

    Reticulocyte count = 1.5%

Other laboratory values were within normal limits.
