  • Review the Learning Resources on criminal justice policies. · Review the articles and media on…

    Contemporary Policies and Practices
The United States criminal justice system is governed by various sets of policies and practices developed from federal statues, regulations, and case law. Interpretation of these policies and practices is ultimately adjudicated by the Supreme Court of the United States, and that court’s decisions affect many practical, on-the-job components of everyday criminal justice professionals. For example, whether and how officers may legally stop, search, and seize evidence. As such, it is essential for a criminal justice professional to understand two things: first, how Supreme Court decisions impact a criminal justice professional’s everyday job in significant ways; and, second, how leadership and administrators in criminal justice take action within their organizations to enforce the court’s decisions.
    To Prepare:
    · Review the Learning Resources on criminal justice policies.
    · Review the articles and media on the Supreme Court decisions related to policing and corrections.
    · Explore contemporary Supreme Court cases related to policing and corrections.
For this Assignment, select one of the two topics:
    · Policing
    · Corrections
Use the Supreme Court of the United States Blog, located in the Learning Resources, to find a contemporary case related to policing or corrections.
    The Assignment:
    · Provide a brief summary of the case.
    · Provide an argument about whether you believe the ruling is correct or what it should be, if the case is still active.
o Ensure that your argument is supported by at least three credible resources.
o Provide references to case laws and facts to support your argument.
    · Explain how you think the Supreme Court’s decision, or potential decision, may impact agencies (police or corrections) moving forward.
    · Recommend at least 2–3 specific actions or steps that could be implemented by leadership to avoid future violations.

    Issues in Criminal Justice
Most of the national focus on criminal justice is on the federal criminal justice system. However, an overwhelming majority of all offenders are arrested, convicted and incarcerated at the state or local levels. As such, understanding the reality of criminal justice policies and practices at your local level are immediately more pertinent than understanding those at the federal level. Furthermore, the challenges at the local level are usually more consequential and impactful to the communities they serve.
    To Prepare:
Imagine you are a consultant who was hired to research, analyze, and present a report to the police chief and mayor of a major U.S. city of your choice. Your presentation must identify the city you selected and two contemporary criminal justice policies or procedures that are challenging that city. For each policy or procedure, provide evidence-based solutions to each, including a visual representation of quantitative data relevant to each.
Some examples of policies and procedures you might select include sanctuary cities and immigration enforcement, police body cameras, anti-terrorism, public shooters, response to civil unrest, criminal prosecution of police officers, or a different topic approved by your Instructor.
    The Assignment:
Using the attached APA Course Paper Template, in 4?5 pages, your report should include:
    · A brief (no more than 1 paragraph) introduction of two contemporary criminal justice policies or procedures that are challenging that city. Be sure to indicate the city.
    · An explanation of why the policies or procedures are challenging the city, referencing 2–3 credible resources.
    · A proposed evidence-based solution for each policy or practice that is challenging the city (each solution should be at least 1 page each).
    · A visual representation of quantitative data relevant to each solution, to demonstrate its prior success.
Please use the rubric to ensure all points are captured in you work.

This is a Social Science course called ” Introduction to women studies” and I have to write a research portfolio 2 – 3 pages.
Students will research a topic of their choice (as it relates to course content).Topic signups will happen online within the second week of class. Students will self -assign to a “task force.” The task force is meant to place you in a supportive group of students so that you can lean on each other for support, feedback, and brainstorm inspiration. You are by no means required to work as or connect to the group , as the assignment itself is an individual assignment. I have found that those who do connect with their peers do exceptionally well on the assignment itself. The individual research assignment consists of the following three components:
    Research
: Spend some time researching your topic and local organization. Make connections to course readings AND bring in additional outside materials from popular culture, social media, and the library. Remember to also reference the research you conducted on the organizational highlight.
    CreativeComponent:
Create a visual representation that captures your findings and conveys your ideas. Connect your ideas to your theory of change. Ideas for creative representations of your slides/videos include comic strip style sketches, online magazine, slideshows, poster campaigns, collages, a curated box, an electronic gallery of a curated exhibit that highlights themes in your research, a podcast segment created by you, a video interview, etc. Be creative! You are not limited to the ideas mentioned here.
    Individual Paper
: Each individually written paper will be 2 -3 pages in length, typed, and shall be submitted online on the date indicated in the Course Schedule. The paper should be analytical and focused on your topic . In the past, some students have chosen to integrate their paper within the creative visual project itself – that is completely acceptable.

This is a course: Introduction to women’s studies
    Analytical Reflection
Your analytical reflection should be a minimum of 450 words in length. Treat these focused response papers as an opportunity to refine your academic writing skills. In answer to the questions, you should demonstrate your ability to (1) develop a strong, thoughtful, and relevant thesis, (2) select relevant and effective evidence to support your thesis, and (3) explain why or how the evidence works as evidence. Attention should be paid to technical elements of writing, including the strength of topic sentences, the organization of ideas into coherent and focused paragraphs, and the logical sequencing of your ideas from one sentence to the next.
This short paper must be typed and submitted online via Canvas. Papers should reflect your meaningful reflection, commentary, and analysis on the range of readings and course topics addressed through the class. Papers should connect to your personal experiences as they relate to the material. Responses should be of high academic quality and provide a thorough analysis.
    Recommended Guiding Questions:
You may select 1 of the following questions to respond to in preparing your written reflection.
What is the impact of socialization, ethnicity, and culture on the lives of women?
How have the various waves of women’s liberation movements in the US. and issues of equality versus difference impacted our understanding of women’s issues of (in)justice? or
How do creativity and personal testimony serve as political forms of resistance and how do these methodologies and practices combat the mechanics of erasure?
    Her
e are a few tips and examples for writing a critical journal response:
Introduce the topic you are discussing
(examples include lectures, discussions/forums, chapters read, etc.):
    “In the chapter _____________ by/on ____________ . . . ”
During the discussion on [date], . . .”
    Have a reaction:
    “I [dis]agreed with,”/ “I appreciated,” / “I couldn’t believe” AND state why.
Make connections to previous knowledge or specific topic:
    “I had always thought/learned/believed . . . about race/class/gender/identity/etc.”
    Be specific:
Give details as best as you can and analyze or deconstruct (take apart) what is being argued, said, written, or produced about the topic.
    Analyze the message:
How has this article/lecture/class discussion affected your understanding of women of color.
