There are multiple ways to promote culturally responsive partnerships with families. One of the best ways is to help promote this partnership is to first build a strong trusting relationship with the families. Make them feel welcome in the classroom at anytime and encourage them to come in for visits and to volunteer in the classroom. You can also plan a family fun literacy night for families to attend where they play fun literacy games and are give information and tips for them to do at home to reinforce what is being taught at school. Another great way is to plan family projects for them to do together and then invite the families to school to share the projects with everyone. There are many great ways to promote this but I think the key to it all is getting to know your families and their needs, making them feel safe confiding in you and building a healthy trusting relationship to ensure that everyone is working together for the betterment of the students. Plessy Comparison Video
    The Case
The case began in 1892 when a man named Homer Plessy purchased a first-class train ticket for awhites-only car in Louisiana. Plessy was one-eighth black by heritage, but in the state of Louisiana hewas legally considered black. Two years earlier, the state of Louisiana passed a law requiring racial segregationof train cars. To protest the law, a group of concerned black, Creole, and white Louisianacitizens, called the Committee of Citizens, convinced Plessy to intentionally buy a ticket for a whites-only car. They expected push-back and wanted to challenge the law in court. As they predicted, the traincompany knew Plessy was coming and had him arrested almost as soon as he stepped into the car.Plessy’s case made its way through the Louisiana court system. His lawyers argued that the lawmandating4rail car segregation was unconstitutional because of the 14th Amendment, which ensured equalprotection under the law for all citizens. Their opponent, the state of Louisiana, argued that the14th Amendment only applied to nationwide laws, not state-specific laws. The courts all-sided against Plessy, but he and his lawyers kept appealing until they made it to the Supreme Court.[1]1.Prohibit(verb):to formally forbid something by law2.Oppression(noun):the state of being subject to unfair treatment or control3.Explicit(adjective):stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for doubt.

    Supreme Court: A Final
VerdictSegregation was common across the country by the 1890s, not just in the South. Even Massachusettssegregated their public schools. It was clear that whatever the Supreme Court decided for Plessy’scase, it would have profound5and widespread consequences. The argument used against Plessy became one of the most famous in American legal history. The state ofLouisiana said that mandated segregation did not suggest that blacks were inferior to whites, because the whites-only train cars and the blacks-only train cars were of the same quality. They were equal. Looking at it that way, the segregated-train mandate did not violate the 14th Amendment’sequal protection requirement. The train cars were “separate, but equal,” and therefore it was constitutional. The Supreme Court sided with the state of Louisiana and convicted Plessy. There was only one judge whodisagreed. Justice John Marshall Harlan wrote an explanation of his dissenting6vote, explaining howwhite Americans saw themselves in a position of power, even if they were technically “equal” with others. He believed it was wrong to undermine the 14th Amendment in this way, when the majority of thecountry had favored the new law. The law, he argued, was “inconsistent with the personal liberty of citizens, white and black, in that state, and hostile to both the spirit and letter of the constitution of theUnited States.” He predicted that the Plessy decision would become one of the most infamous cases in supremeCourt history, and that it would set a precedent7of segregation across the country.

  • [ANSWERED] Doctor You If you have not read our lesson this week about utilitarianism and its main proponent,…

    Doctor You
If you have not read our lesson this week about utilitarianism and its main proponent, John Stuart Mill, you should do so before beginning this assignment.
This week’s assignment presents a profoundly difficult dilemma, with you in an imagined professional role: You are the lead surgeon managing a liver transplant. You are also utilitarian.
A healthy young woman, Linda, had a fatal car accident this morning. She was an organ donor, your hospital has harvested her organs, and there are three liver transplant candidates on the hospital’s most-urgent list. All will die within the next month without a liver. You must choose one of the three candidates, and you must use utilitarianism as your main tool for doing so. You have about 12 hours left to make your decision. In this written assignment, please provide your complete utilitarian rationale for why you chose one of the following candidates.
Recipient A is Francis. He is 57. He is a recovering alcoholic who has not had a drink in 9 months but has relapsed many times before. Francis is a beloved husband and a father to three teenage children. He is the president of a small, struggling credit union that may fail without him.
Recipient B is Miriam. She is 34. She doesn’t do much with her life, and she’s not a very nice person. She comes from a very wealthy family; her father recently donated $2 million to the hospital’s cancer research program. He’s said that he intends to donate even more—a whole new pediatric wing—in the next year. There’s a large risk that he will cease donating if his daughter dies.
Recipient C is Benji. He is 19. He has his whole life ahead of him. He’s a college sophomore getting good grades and thinking about becoming a doctor himself. There is a strong risk, however, based on past complications, that his body will reject the liver.
Which candidate is the strongest choice from your utilitarian perspective, and why? How have you eliminated the other candidates? You should write this as Doctor You (you can use your last name), in the first person. Imagine your hospital’s board of trustees as your audience. You should use two or three quotes or paraphrases from Mill’s work (this will require library research) to support your decision, but you’re not writing primarily as a philosopher. Rather, you’re a doctor who has grown to trust this philosophy in his profession. You should walk your audience through your decision from beginning to end. If this were a math assignment, you’d show your work. It’s not a math assignment, though, so the only wrong answer is one that you don’t effectively support.
Note: You may find that the real you does not actually agree with the utilitarian choice, or even that the utilitarian choice is not one a hospital ethics board would ultimately support. That’s okay! You’re an imaginary doctor. You’re simply practicing arguing from this perspective. Your paper should be 3 to 5 pages and written in APA format.

    ABA 534: M3 Project
Do the following for one example of each type of measurement (event recording, interval recording).
Select any teaching/behavior reduction program and create at least 10 data points to be compared.
Describe the measurement system being used (duration, count, rate, latency, etc.).
Now, calculate IOA for your fabricated data using the appropriate method. Make sure to include:
    Method used
    The formula for that method
    Your calculations
For each method of IOA used, provide the definition in your own words, along with:
Benefits of this method of IOA calculation
    Potential problems with this method
Finally, write a brief summary of your findings in regard to the use of the different methods of IOA for this project.
