  • [ANSWERED] Question 2: Research Proposal Word count: 1500 (+/- 10%) Weighting: 40% Instructions:…

    Assignment 2: Research Proposal
    Word count: 1500 (+/- 10%) Weighting: 40% Instructions:
Generally the starting point for developing a research proposal is to initially identify what research problem or question you are trying to address.
This assignment is linked with assignment 1. Now you that you have learnt how to conduct a literature review. Previously you have conducted a literature review on one of the element of bedside handover listed below:
    1. The benefits of bedside handover 2. The barriers to implementing bedside handover 3. The perspective of nurses about bedside handover 4. The perspective of patients about bedside handover 5. The perspective of family members about bedside handover
In this assignment you are now required to write a research proposal based on any gaps identified in your review. This would require you to think critically and analyse the literature.
    An example could be:
In the first assignment you did a literature review on topic area 1: The benefits of bedside handover. In this assignment you can now write a proposal on the topic. During your synthesis of the literature you discovered that there were several benefits that the studies noted about the benefits of bedside handover but you also discover that:
    • All the studies you found were conducted in Canada and USA but there is none that has been conducted here in Australia. Given that the healthcare system here in Australia is slightly different from these other countries (justification of the study or gap in the literature) you now want to determine whether this would also be the case here in Australia. • In this particular example, you will then need to identify a comparable setting here in Australia to carry out the study. You may decide to replicate the methodology of the previous studies or chose a different one (either way you will need to defend your choice).
You may choose to pick a different area of bedside handover for your proposal. This just means you will need to undertake a literature review in that area to have a background for your proposal.
